I woke up late this morning, but still made it to work on time... only to find out I didn't have anyone until 2 hours later. January always sucks ass at work! I'm normally still busy in Januaries, thanks to my clientele, but sucky economy + January= super slow. At least I was able to run a few errands. I purchased some more supplies for my jewelry, as I had 3 orders for necklaces yesterday. I finished one necklace (yes, that's you Julybride) tonight. I love having a new creative outlet. I have to thank several Nesties/Bumps for your compliments yesterday!
So, let me talk about our puppy, Deuce.
There is so much to explain, but long story short, Gabby hates Deuce. She's our 13 year old boxer. She hasn't been herself since we've had him . He antagonizes her and she sits in the hallway and stares at us, to avoid him. If he enters the room, she leaves. She won't even go outside unless he's inside. Deuce seems to have a bladder infection, because he pees so much! Seriously, I take him out every hour and he goes 2 or 3 times. Within 10 minutes, he has peed on the floor again. Other than the housetraining and being mean to Gabby, he's a fabulous dog. He's very sweet and smart. He's the best to cuddle with, too! He's also doing very well in his crate.
I've been moping around for quite a while now, and I finally talked to DH tonight about several things. I was getting Deuce and his crate ready for bed, and talking to DH. Tears just came from nowhere as I told him how upset I've been.
Flame all you want, but here's what we've decided to do:
We're going to let the puppy stay with MIL's best friend for the weekend. I want to see if Gabby will return to her normal behavior. If she doesn't, she might not feel well. We removed tumors from her a few months ago and she's having problems with her leg. She might feel well. It's just so strange to see her this inactive/unsociable. I have to take her to the vet this week anyway, to get her heartworm meds.
Depending on how this goes, we'll decide if we keep Deuce or not. DH said his MIL's best friend wants to take Deuce if decide it's not working out. They are wonderful people and they've been considering a boxer puppy for a while, since theirs passed away recently.
Whatever happens will be the best for all 4 of us. I really wish they'd just get along and we keep them both. DH doesn't think I should be stressing out like this, regardless. I know I'll feel like a failure if it doesn't work out, but I want Gabby to be happy more than anything. I wish I would have just waited to get a puppy after she passed, so I wouldn't have to worry about any of this.
I'm sorry if none of this makes sense. I was in tears for 30 minutes while DH and I talked and I've been writing this blog forever now, lol. I'm exhausted. Thanks for reading my rants!
OH! I have someone coming over Thursday to give me an estimate on a fence! If we keep Deuce, we defenitely have to have a fenced in yard. I'd like to fence it in, either way.
